Acting looks easy. You just memorize lines, block your movement and perform. That's all there is to it. Not quite. There's the building community, discovering actors' abilities and creativing an environment of safety. There are arms and legs that often are clueless as to what to do. There are relationships that require investment off stage into order to provide the chemistry on stage. There's blocking, motivation, energy, believability, naturalness, teachability.
And there’s individuality and patience. No two drama teams are the same. We watch another church’s excellent drama team and we suddenly see ourselves as weak and amateurish. We hear of other churches doing dramas weekly and so we begin picking up the pace of the number of dramas we’re doing. We see great sketches and want so much to be able to do them ourselves only to discover we don’t have the depth on our team to pull it off. God has called each ministry to a uniqueness all its own. And it requires great patience to let God build it His way.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
they labor in vain who build it.
Psalm 127:1 I want to help you in that process of hearing God and following His lead. My intentions are not to make you identical to another team or ministry, but to encourage and inspire you upward. Whether you are just starting out or have been at this for many years, I want to come along side you and assist you in taking the next step. At your invitation I will come and work with your team, teach, encourage, inspire – whatever your need is.

Community This is a fun, interactive workshop. I start out by going over the basics, getting everyone on the same page - what it means to be an actor in church ministry. We move on to character development and then I get out of the way and practice through improvisation.
